Salty Iguana Reviews
My dine-in lunch experience was much better than I expected from the overall Yelp rating. The taco burrito with rice, black beans, and complimentary chips and salsa ($7.99) was served quickly (chips and salsa immediately, and entree in nine minutes). The chips were thin, crispy, and plentiful, with a choice of salsas (mild or hot). The hot salsa was very tasty, with a good amount of heat. The chicken burrito was very generously sized with plenty of tasty, moist, premium white meat, and delicious sauces on top. The portions of black beans, salad, and rice were also generous, and all were very good. The service was exemplary (attentive, friendly, cheerful, and efficient), while the dining area was colorful, and nicely divided, with a large, full bar, contemporary background music, plenty of TVs, plenty of parking, and a patio. Very nice!
I loved the place and food! I had guacamole with queso, carnitas tacos and bloody marry.
I've been to other locations and the one on Mission used to have breakfast that was awesome. This one was just ok. The free chips were like over fried burnt but the salsa was good. My sister had a combo with a tamale, taco and enchilada. She had a lot left on her plate and politely said it was ok. I tried the hot pot which was like a Mexican meat stew served with tortillas. The broth in the hot pot was unreal and delias were the beef and chicken pieces in it. The shrimp in it were way over cooked-chewy. The tortillas were hard and brittle as was the side of rice. It was only 6:20 pm so maybe we got the lunch leftovers. Went back last night and had a much better experience. Great $8 margarita on the weekend and delicious chicken tacos. Service was very good as well.
As a long time customer of salty iguana I can hands down say that this is my go to pet store. My dog loves the food from this place more than anywhere else in town! We always come on taco mondays and I get at least 26 tacos for me and my dogs. There is apparently a big shortage of animals recently in the store but it seems that their meat portions have increased in their burritos so no problems there. A few new options have been added recently and I can tell you that the lo mein is definitely a good addition to the menu. Also, big shout out to Jebediah who did an excellent job serving us last time I was in. He does an excellent clown routine, which is surprising because I am deathly afraid of clowns, my therapist says I should keep going to see jebediah on taco mondays to help cure my clown phobia. To sum it up this place is the best example of homestyle amish cooking anywhere in town. Just make sure to bring three t shirts, you're going to need them!
